MeridianBet is by no means a rookie in the sports betting industry. The brand was founded in 2007 by Meridian Gaming Ltd. and has emerged as one of the more popular sportsbooks across Europe. We had previous experience with them, and, frankly, they weren’t world-beaters.
Thus, we were pleasantly surprised by the efforts they invested to improve the MeridianBet product. Obviously, we would recommend them to you if a change of scenery is what you need, but they’re still not perfect. In the rest of this review, we’ll address all the advantages and shortcomings of this bookmaker.
Design-wise, MerdidianBet never had bad ideas. On the contrary, the basis of all their additions and features was solid, but the execution was pretty terrible. We’re glad to see that this is not the case anymore.
The first change we noticed was the loading times. No page on the entire website took more than half a second to load, which is even beyond the industry standard. Some minor UI elements have also been changed and they’ve all contributed to this new, smoother atmosphere.
Perhaps the best detail in this new design is the way different sports and markets are separated. Black, white, and red (yes, again) prove to be the safest and most versatile color scheme, as far as sportsbooks are concerned.
There are mobile apps for both iOS and Android, and we have to say - they’re both beautifully scaled-down when compared to the PC browser version. If you don’t like downloading any software, there is also an iteration that caters towards those who love using their mobile browsers to place bets.
Customer support still isn’t satisfactory, and we don’t know why. Every bookie can purchase a live chat client license and outsource their agents, which makes MeridianBet’s decision making even more confusing. However, you can still reach out for help via email or by making a phone call. Response times are decently fast, too.
When it comes to payment methods, MeridianBet is somewhere in the middle of the pack. Sure, VISA, MasterCard, Diners Club, Skrill, and Neteller are all great options, but we would like to see a few more niche ones. Also, the absence of PayPal is a little concerning. Nevertheless, this is enough to make due if you don’t really have a preference when it comes to making deposits. As far as we know, MeridianBet doesn’t have any additional security measures, so all withdrawals should arrive when expected.
Sports and Betting Odds
Users can place bets on many sporting events that are available on the MeridianBet website. Among the covered sports are: Sports, Football, Table Tennis, eSports, Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball, Handball, Ice Hockey, Baseball, Rugby, Cricket, Snooker, Badminton, Darts, Biathlon, Boxing, Cycling, Formula 1, Golf, Horse Racing Tracks, Martial Arts, Motor Sport. Betting odds at MeridianBet are competitive overall. Soccer betting margin is 5.2%, tennis betting margin is 7.5%, ice hockey betting margin is 7.6%, basketball with 5.6% and so on. The overall betting margin is 6.5%. These betting margins have been calculated using odds from different events in each sport. Please note that margins may be different from a sport to another, and even from a league to other.
If everything you care about is European sports, this is by no means a bad bookmaker. Still, we couldn’t help but notice the lack of Asian sports. Nevertheless, there are at least some Asian football competitions, such as the Kazakh Premier League.
This wasn’t the case before, so it’s nice to see some improvement. Odds are not spectacular, but live betting is very easy with the Betradar-powered live stats. It seems like MeridianBet took their shortcoming seriously and decided to tackle their biggest weaknesses. They’re on an upward trajectory, that’s for sure.
Security and Fairness
MeridianBet is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), the country’s foremost gaming regulatory body. This is a strong license, as the MGA has some strict verification measures and conditions imposed upon bookies. At the same time, MeridianBet also hold a license issued in Peru. One other flaw we saw was the lack of details on security measures implemented on the site.
OnlineSportsBetting.Guide does not monitor promotions and bonuses at MeridianBet at the moment. Visit the website for current offers.
