Yet another member of the new wave of all-purpose bookmakers, LiveBet has recently popped on the radar for many sports betting aficionados. It positioned itself as a great solution for recreational punters. And frankly, that’s as far as they can go if they don’t change things.
Would we recommend them to you? Not wholeheartedly, as there are better solutions on the market. Still, keep in mind that they were only founded in 2017, so it’s not like they’ve been making the same mistakes over and over again, for thirty years. Nevertheless, you should keep an eye out for LiveBet in the future. It’s just too early now.
The first thing that comes to mind when registering at LiveBet is that the site is heavily outdated. We just couldn’t help but laugh at the ‘© 2020 LiveBet’ inscription at the bottom of the home page. It’s almost as if they’re reminding us that such a UI is simply unacceptable in 2020.
Don’t get us wrong - the site is far from unusable. It loads fast, but should this be looked at as a legitimate pro? If a betting site uses such outdated design elements, it’s obvious that it will run fast on all modern browsers. And it’s not like the site isn’t tidy. It’s just that LiveBet made some wrong decisions when it came to the details.
For those that have experience with more highly-coveted sportsbooks, LiveBet will be a disappointment. Times New Roman is an iconic font, but it simply has no place with any bookmakers that are currently operating. There are no compelling graphics, which they tried to somewhat make up for by including a whole bunch of bright colors. LiveBet.com simply isn’t visually appealing.
Another big minus is the fact that there are no iOS or Android apps available. Sure, a mobile browser version is great to get the job done, but why settle for being average?
When it comes to payment methods, LiveBet misses the mark. VISA, MasterCard, and Skrill are the only mainstream options available. The rest is mainly made up of niche payment providers. While versatility should always be commended, LiveBet failed to include other popular options. Banking is limited here.
There’s nothing wrong with LiveBet’s customer support, as all the agents know their stuff and are capable. Still, the lack of live chat is concerning. If students who run eCommerce sites from their dorm room can use ZenDesk or some other client, then a bookmaker should, too.
A wide variety of sporting events is available on LiveBet for users to place bets on. Among the covered sports are: Football, Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Ice Hockey, Badminton, Baseball, Handball, American Football, Chess, Aussie Rules, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, eSports, Cricket, Cycling, Darts, Formula 1, Golf, Motorbikes, Pool, Rugby, Snooker, Water Polo. Betting odds at LiveBet are competitive overall. Soccer betting margin is 5.2%, tennis betting margin is 7.5%, ice hockey betting margin is 7.6%, basketball with 5.6% and so on. The overall betting margin is 6.5%. These betting margins have been calculated using odds from different events in each sport. Please note that margins may be different from a sport to another, and even from a league to other.
LiveBet gets the basics done quite well, and that’s no secret. The problem arises if you want to take on some more ambitious special bets. There aren’t any, aside from NBA and Premier League games mostly. It’s a shame, really, as we really wanted to see what they could do. If you’re a rookie, LivetBet could be an okayish training ground. High-rollers don’t seem to be welcome here.
So far, LiveBet hasn’t disclosed anything about their security measures. With some much fraudulent activity around us, transparency is more important than ever.
As for licensing, the Government of Curacao has given LiveBet the green light to offer sports betting and online casino services. It’s not the strongest regulatory body in the world, so an MGA license would be great to see.
