Founded in 2000 by billionaire Irish businessman Dermot Desmond, BetDaq emerged as one of the most interesting gaming projects in recent memory. After several redesigns and additions, they’ve established themselves as the second-best betting exchange in the world. While they are trailing Betfair in that department, the two have often been compared. These comparisons became more common after BetDaq was acquired by Ladbrokes in 2013. Let’s take a look at what makes BetDaq so popular and analyze their key strengths and weaknesses.

First of all, we love the innovative approach to mobile betting. For both Android and iOS apps, you can either text a number to receive an automatic download or go down the usual route. Interestingly, it’s not available on the Play Store, but the iOS version has been on the App Store for some time now. All in all, the app features a similar design to the desktop version, but everything has been modified to fit smartphone interfaces. It would have been better to apply some new solutions, but this is decent enough execution.

Even though we are against the incessant use of white by bookmakers, Betdaq didn’t overdo it. It can get tiring to stare at the same bright color for hours, but the blankness is perfectly offset by a lot of multimedia content and tons of purple. Pink, purple and burgundy aren’t used that frequently by bookmakers and bet exchanges, so this is somewhat of a welcome surprise.

The support section is honestly a thing of beauty. With the FAQ and Answers sections being so deep and informative, you probably won’t even need to contact agents for the most part. Still, we would like them to extend the working hours of live chat support, as 9 am to 8 pm is pretty mediocre. Email and phone support are both there, so it’s not all that bad. Every agent is very cordial and knows how to handle problems of all types.

Oftentimes, brands think that the famous “the more the merrier” saying also applies to payment options. Too many niche platforms cannot offset the absence of the most popular ones and it’s great to see BetDaq realizing this. PayPal, Neteller, Skrill and all the traditional options are more than enough for any bettor.

Betting odds at BetDaq are competitive overall. Soccer betting margin is 5.4%, tennis betting margin is 5.4%, ice hockey betting margin is 7.1%, basketball with 7.8% and so on. The overall betting margin is 6.4%. These betting margins have been calculated using odds from different events in each sport. Please note that margins may be different from a sport to another, and even from a league to other.

A wide range of sports is available for buying and selling outcomes. The liquidity is awesome and Betdaq consistently releases odds before many of its competitors. With a 2% commission on all bets and a wide range of alternative markets offered, BetDaq is closing in on Betfair. While we don’t expect BetDaq to overtake them any time soon, it’s nice to see that they’re committed to providing the best service to their customers. No complaints here.

Security and Fairness

Security is a guarantee, thanks to the duo of licenses from the Gibraltar Gaming Commissioner (GGC) and the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC). BetDaq is also a member of the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) and supports several programs dedicated to mitigating the effects of problem gambling. 10/10.
